DOGS AND A BARGAIN |
This is not
exactly an article about a specific place to eat.. And it definitely
is not an article about haute cuisine. The opening hours are funny
and it keeps moving around and the help keeps changing. It's not a
place its an event.
The only good reason to write about it is that its a lot of fun, it's
where you can rub elbows with the natives, make a good deal on a used
krumkake iron and enjoy a hot dog, Norwegian style. This is an article
about Norwegian flea-markets
.
The Norwegian flea-market season is twice a year, now and in the spring.
They are arranged by parents or a church congregation in order to
raise money for a worthy cause- new instruments for the band or a
roof for the church. The only way to find out about them is to look
in the local paper in the ad section under Loppemarkets.
Once finding where there being held there's the challenge of getting
there. Its a great way to get to know the local transportation system.
Warning- its also a great way to get lost. So take along a map, get
directions before going and wear good walking shoes. And what would
I recommend? Well of course try a hot dog, and a definite must are
the waffles. The heart shaped waffles. They'll go right to your heart |
